“Just out of this world!”

That seemed to be the general verdict after the final successful run-through of Holst’s Planet Suite, rehearsed and performed at the annual KEMS Orchestral Workshop at the Senior Citizens’ Hall on 22nd May 2010.

Over 60 players - one of the largest ever assembled for a KEMS Workshop - took part in this day-long study of one the most exciting and original works in the symphonic repertoire. “Every section of the orchestra is represented here today,” said conductor Anthony Houghton. “It’s great to see such an enormous band.”

The final performance was warmly received by the capacity audience. Well, with such a large orchestra there wasn’t much space for spectators.
